Monq Aroma Therapy Review

I have been inundated with MONQ newsfeed ads on Facebook. Though I was skeptical, their marketing and packaging and my curiosity got the better of me so I ordered 4 MONQ Aroma Therapy diffusers. According to the website, MONQ is “Unlike topical oils or household diffusers, MONQ directly inserts aromatherapy into your olfactory system.” allowing “therapeutic air” to provide benefits. I was willing to test it out for $69.99.

MONQ Review

The website claims you can choose a diffuser based on how you want to feel: Vibrant, Sexy, Zen, Sleepy, Happy, Healthy, Active. I don’t know too much about aroma therapy but I’m not sold on a premise that breathing in a mix of organic herbs and botanicals is going to change my mood. However, I have experienced some physical therapeutic effects from ingesting and/or applying natural oils as topical ointments.

A lot of scientific studies point to the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties of essential oils.  Though there are no large randomized control trials, there have been some small studies covering the anxiolytic and sedative effects of some essential oils that “exert anxiolytic-like effects without GABA/benzodiazepine activity” (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26473822) and one which stated that “Aromatherapy may be a useful part of a holistic approach to reducing preoperative anxiety” (https://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/2013/927419)

I received my order within the week and was really excited to give the diffusers a puff. The packaging is fantastic –  I love how the diffuser lights up every time you inhale. I tested out all 4 diffusers for a few days and found that breath is the value MONQ. It is a fantastic product for making you remember to take deep, slow breaths a few times a day. I didn’t experience any drastic mood changes but the deep breathing – it helped.

MONQ diffusers smell AMAZING, are reusable and they come in thin individual cylindrical covers that plug the inhaler, so nothing seeps out.
